Helping the Community
The Nassau County Police Explorers take pride in helping the community through community service activities. Always ready to lend a helping hand the Explorers are very much in demand to assist at events throughout Nassau County. Under the direct supervision of their Police Officer Advisors, here are samplings of how Explorers help their communities:
- Distributing crime awareness and crime prevention flyers at shopping malls and train stations
- Color Guard details at special events
- Crowd control at polar plunges and public gatherings
- Handing out water at 5K charity runs
- Assisting Police Department personnel at disaster drill trainings
- Lending a helping hand at special needs parties
- Assisting at holiday toy drives and back-to-school backpack events
- Locating lost parents and reuniting them with their child at street fairs and other large gatherings
- Helping to install child car seats at monthly appointments
