Explorers Spend Their Time

Law Enforcement Exploring combines classroom training with hands-on role play activities based on the purposes, mission, and objectives of law enforcement. The program provides career orientation experiences, leadership opportunities and community service activities.


Explorers attend post meetings twice a month (every other Tuesday evening). At these post meetings Explorers are trained in many of the 12 specific areas of law enforcement:

Explorers will also learn radio communication skills, arrest and search procedures, and self-defense. Community service is a large component of the Exploring program and the Explorers actively serve the county and their communities at special events such as parades, color guard details, polar plunges, 5K charity runs, disaster drill trainings for the Police Department and Fire Department Open Houses to name a few.

A typical explorer’s time is divided as follows:
